The brand of Yoga in today’s world, the way a pose is performed, the so-called alignment on how the pose is supposedly being correct and perceived as a perfect pose, many do understand yoga is 99% of practice and 1 % of theory, but when we quote such saying, how well do we understand the statement?
All those I have mentioned are not the most important thing, but you are! Each one of us is seeking our own expression, our own narration of balance, and a refinement of our proprioceptive awareness and experience.
What is important is we seek appropriate expression in harmony within. We grow, we change; our experiences are constantly changing from moment to moment, and it re-shapes who we are, our ideas and our perceptions too. Being different is not being wrong, you may meet someone who sees things from a different perspective than you, listen to their reasoning and try seeing it from their perspective, this may broaden your own perspective and learn something new.
Yoga takes places practices beyond techniques and postures, it includes the different ways we move, how we organise our organs through movement, of course, there are many ways of doing this but Yoga is one of them. Through our experience in teaching for nearly 2 decades, we develop the method of practicing yoga through “embodied movements” as taught by my Guruji Parveen Nair, who is a trained dancer, a movement artist, a movement educator, and a yoga teacher.
Parveen stresses in his teaching of Embodied Movement, we unite and reunite our sense of who we are and how we are, the mind and the body is integrally connected and mutually interactive expression of being, his approach to yoga is to teach us based on direct experience and observation of our own, it is as much about awareness of that it is about who is being aware, and how they embody that awareness. How we connect this aspect and the discovery that we do so through our direct experience enhances the principles of yoga and expands our inner sensing.
